Decision intelligence for complex systems.

Kipu helps organizations understand complicated problems, make better use of evidence, build models of what might happen, and turn the resulting research into tools they can keep using.

Work

What Kipu can help with.

Kipu works on problems that sit between research, modeling, and building the systems that make analysis useful.

Understand the problem.

When a situation is complicated or people disagree about what is actually going on, Kipu helps clarify how the pieces fit together, what matters, and what question needs answering.

Build a trusted evidence system.

When important information is scattered across reports, datasets, news, research, and other sources, Kipu builds systems that collect it, organize it, track where it came from, and keep it current.

Model what could happen.

When a decision depends on many things changing together, Kipu builds models and scenarios to explore possible outcomes, understand what drives them, and compare different choices.

Turn research into working software.

Kipu builds and modernizes analytical tools so useful research does not end as a report, spreadsheet, or fragile prototype. When an existing method does not fit the problem, Kipu can also develop and test a new one.

About

About Kipu.

Kipu is the consulting practice of David Bohl, a researcher, modeler, and technical lead based in Denver.

Before starting Kipu, David spent nearly a decade building long-range models and analysis around economic, social, political, and human-development questions. The work was done with international organizations, governments, and research institutions.

He later moved into applied data science and software engineering, leading systems that operated at large production scale and, more recently, building AI-assisted research and analytical tools.

Kipu brings that experience together in one practice: research, quantitative modeling, and the engineering needed to make analytical methods useful in practice.
